Terms of Service
These Terms explain the rules for creating an account, importing receipt data, using product insights, and purchasing an optional Pro subscription.
Last updated:
1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms form an agreement between you and the operator of SaveAtCost.co (“SaveAtCost,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply to the SaveAtCost.co website, account dashboard, browser extension, APIs made available through the extension, and related services (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account, connecting the browser extension, starting a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the policies they incorporate. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract where you live. The Service is designed for individual consumers managing their own or an authorized household member’s purchase history.
- Do not create an account for another person without authority.
- Do not use the Service if applicable law or a binding agreement prohibits you from doing so.
- If you use the Service for an organization, you confirm that you can bind that organization to these Terms.
3. Account registration and security
You must provide accurate account and membership information, keep it current, use a strong password, and protect access to your account and connected browser extension. SaveAtCost may require email verification and bot-prevention checks.
- Tell us promptly at the support address if you believe your account or extension connection has been compromised.
- You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless caused by our failure to use reasonable security practices.
- We may suspend access while investigating suspected fraud, misuse, or a security incident.
4. What the Service does
SaveAtCost imports supported receipt and order data, organizes purchase history, calculates spending summaries, shows item-price trends, displays current offer information, links to official recall resources, generates explainable shopping suggestions from qualifying warehouse history, and identifies possible price-adjustment matches. Some filters, historical views, trends, predictions, and matches require Pro and may also depend on rollout eligibility or available data.
SaveAtCost is a decision-support and record-organizing tool. It does not sell retailer products, hold inventory, observe pantry inventory, automatically identify recalled purchases, process a retailer price adjustment, act as a retailer’s agent, or decide whether a retailer will approve a request.
5. Receipt data and browser extension
You may submit or import membership numbers, order and receipt records, item descriptions and numbers, purchase dates, warehouse identifiers, prices, discounts, returns, and related transaction information (“User Data”). You represent that you may lawfully provide this data and that it relates to you or a person who authorized you.
The browser extension uses retailer-session information on your device to retrieve supported order and receipt data. SaveAtCost does not ask you to send us your retailer password. Your use of the retailer website remains subject to the retailer’s own terms and policies.
6. Ownership and limited licenses
You retain your rights in User Data. You give SaveAtCost a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, reproduce, and analyze User Data only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service and to comply with law. This license ends when the data is deleted, subject to reasonable backup, legal, fraud-prevention, and accounting retention.
SaveAtCost and its licensors own the Service, software, interface, original branding, documentation, and other materials we provide. These Terms grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose; they do not transfer our intellectual property to you.
7. Independent service and third parties
SaveAtCost is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorized by, or operated by Costco Wholesale Corporation. Retailer names, product names, logos, and other marks belong to their owners and are used only to identify the source of information.
The Service relies on third-party websites, data, infrastructure, email, bot protection, payment processing, and retailer systems. Their terms and privacy practices apply to your direct interactions with them. Changes, outages, access restrictions, or policy updates at a third party may reduce or remove Service functionality.
8. Prices, predictions, offers, matches, and no guarantee of savings
Receipt parsing, shopping predictions, offer data, historical comparisons, trend calculations, reward estimates, and adjustment matching can be delayed, incomplete, duplicated, or incorrect. Product identity, region, channel, taxes, inventory, unimported or outside-retailer purchases, household consumption, exclusions, timing, and retailer policy may affect results.
- Verify information against the original receipt and the retailer’s current website, price, inventory, and policy.
- A “possible,” “active,” “eligible,” or similar label is an estimate, not a retailer decision or promise.
- We do not guarantee any savings, refund, reward, adjustment, availability, accuracy, or response from a retailer.
9. Free and Pro plans
A Free account currently includes basic receipt access for up to 12 months, basic source filters, current-year analytics, current offer information, official recall-resource links, and account data controls. Pro currently adds full receipt history, advanced receipt search, price trends, multi-year analytics, possible adjustment matches, and personalized warehouse shopping suggestions when available. Existing saved-list data remains manageable after a downgrade. Feature availability may change as described below.
Published Pro pricing is currently $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year. Eligible first-time subscribers may receive one 30-day trial. The checkout screen shows the price, billing interval, trial eligibility, taxes if applicable, and renewal terms before you confirm.
Stripe processes payments. You authorize Stripe and SaveAtCost to charge the payment method selected at checkout at the end of any trial and at each renewal until cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically for the selected monthly or annual period unless canceled.
10. Cancellation, refunds, and taxes
You may cancel through the Stripe customer portal linked from account settings. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period; deleting the app or disconnecting the extension does not cancel billing.
Except where law requires otherwise or we confirm a duplicate or erroneous charge, subscription fees are non-refundable and we do not issue credits for partially used periods, unused features, a missed cancellation date, or an unsuccessful retailer adjustment. See the separate Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy for details.
You are responsible for taxes, duties, or similar charges that apply to your purchase, except taxes based on our net income.
11. Communications and preferences
We may send transactional messages needed to verify your email, recover your password, secure or administer your account, manage billing, or provide legally required notices. Where optional price or product emails are available, you may change those preferences in account settings. Disabling optional messages does not stop essential account or legal notices.
12. Acceptable use
You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. In particular, you may not use the Service to commit fraud, submit altered purchase data, access another person’s account or receipts, disrupt systems, bypass access controls, scrape the Service at scale, misuse retailer credentials, or violate a third party’s rights or terms.
13. Changes to the Service
We may add, change, limit, or discontinue features; update supported retailer flows; introduce reasonable usage limits; or change plan pricing. We will provide notice when required by law or when a material subscription change will apply to a future renewal. Changes to third-party systems may occur without advance notice.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and may request account deletion, subject to resolving an active or unresolved subscription. We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach, fraud, risk to users or systems, legal requirement, nonpayment, or discontinuation of the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive—such as ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms—remain effective.
15. Warranty disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, complete data, a particular result, or compatibility with every browser, retailer account, receipt, or location. Consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived remain unaffected.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SaveAtCost and its suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; lost profits, revenue, savings, goodwill, or data; or losses resulting from retailer decisions, inaccurate or unavailable third-party information, or unauthorized account use that was not caused by our failure to use reasonable care.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid to SaveAtCost during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. This limit does not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
17. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold SaveAtCost harmless from third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs caused by your unlawful User Data, fraudulent activity, material violation of these Terms, or infringement of another person’s rights. We will provide reasonable notice and allow you to participate in the defense; you may not settle a claim in a way that admits our fault or imposes obligations on us without consent.
18. Disputes and governing law
Before filing a claim, contact support@saveatcost.co and describe the issue so both sides can try to resolve it informally. Nothing here prevents either side from seeking urgent relief where legally available.
A governing-law jurisdiction has not been inserted because the operator has not yet confirmed it. Applicable law will govern until this draft is updated with a verified jurisdiction; this section does not create an arbitration agreement or class-action waiver.
19. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms and will change the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated as required by law. Questions or legal notices may be sent to support@saveatcost.co. A verified operator legal name and postal notice address must be added through the site’s legal configuration before this draft is treated as final.
